I share my life on a small family farm with my husband, Steve, daughter, Julie, son, David and his wife Kindra. I milk cows, train and work the sheep with my border Collie, Owain, help with lambing, make butter, and cook many of the meals for the family. In the spring and summer I raise the vegetable garden, put food by and keep the grounds around the house blooming with native grasses and wildflowers. I have been a free-lance writer for over 25 years, having sold my stories about the natural world, family, and farm life to numerous national magazines. I have completed 2 novels, and have published a book of essays, "Drinking Shadows" that shares with readers my love of nature and life on the farm. I have also published achildren’s book, "Snow is Coming,"1st in my series, Remembering a Country Childhood. Most recently I appear in their new book,"Our Neck of the Woods," published by Minnesota Press which is a compilation of sense of place essays by various nature writers. My family, the animals in my life, and my connection make up the rich spiritual framework that defines my life.
